‘Tis the season for Christmas trees, eggnog, twinkling lights, and acne breakouts.
Wait, scratch that last one.
Who wants a breakout during the holidays? Nobody.
Unfortunately, it happens to the best of us jolly folks.
The good news is we have skin health and wellness tips that can help you not only look your best but feel your best this holiday season!
Holiday Skin Health and Wellness Tips
SLEEP. SLEEP. SLEEP.
This might be the most exciting time of the year for some folks, but that doesn’t mean you should
skip your sleep, or stay awake for Ol’ Saint Nick.
When your body doesn’t get enough rest and quality sleep, not only do you feel sluggish and tired — those bags under your eyes start to show and you begin to resemble a ghost. Not a cute look for those holiday parties and Christmas cards you want to send out.
Make rest and sleep a priority — your brain, body, and face will thank you when you’re cuttin’ a rug on New Year’s Eve because you didn’t exhaust yourself this month.
WASH YOUR FACE
It’s so easy to skip the practice of
washing your face before bedtime
— especially during the holiday season.
The cost of allowing your face full of make-up to hit your pillow is dirt, clogged pores, premature aging, and potential breakouts.
And we know you don’t want that.
Because sleep is a priority for you this holiday (hint, hint – see above tip), make washing your face part of your nightly routine. Don’t overthink it — the simpler the routine the better!
HYDRATE. HYDRATE. HYDRATE.
Between the eggnog, apple cider, hot chocolate and boozy beverages that are offered to you — don’t forget to hydrate with water.
Not only will your water intake help you keep your brain and body feeling well hydrated, your skin will feel that as well (hydration helps keep the skin plump and moisturized internally).
Water tip: Aim for at least half your body weight in ounces a day (Ex. – body weight: 130 pounds; drink 65 ounces of water/day).
KEEP AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
If you want to keep your mental health in check this holiday, focus on gratitude.
We know it’s not always an easy attitude to cultivate with so many potential stressors during this time.
However, if you can choose an attitude of gratitude even once, your mental health might just hug you for it.
Start now with choosing gratitude.
Remember the good qualities in people when you’re really feeling like you just can’t do the gratitude thing and keep in mind – this holiday season will come and go just as quickly as each one does!
