Are you ready for back to school?
Whether you’re a student, parent or even grandparent, we know this time of year can get hectic.
With school supply shopping, summer winding down and soaking up that beautiful weather — it’s easy to forget about
skin care.
(I mean, isn’t sunscreen enough to remember?)
We want you to look and feel your best, so we’re pulling out our best back to school skin care guide to help you feel confident as a new season approaches!
Back to School | Your Skin Care Guide
Yes, technically, we’re still in summer (trust us, we don’t want to rush this season either).
But we all know back to school signals a transition.
A transition that says our schedule may need an adjustment, fall is approaching, and we think it’s another opportunity to examine what your skin care routine looks like.
It’s easy to get stuck in a rut with products and skin care.
Decision fatigue can take over and the next thing you know – inspiration turns into frustration and you’re back to what you’ve always done: Wash. Rinse. Repeat. (And pray to the skin gods for a glowing complexion).
We say, “Not on our watch!”
Here are our best tips to help you up your back to school skin care game.
WELLNESS
If you think lack of sleep and stress doesn’t play a part in your overall health — think again.
Sometimes all it takes to look good is to feel good and that can start simply by taking a glance at your lifestyle.
BEST WELLNESS TIPS FOR BACK TO SCHOOL
1. GET SLEEP
We know you’ve heard it a thousand times, but interrupted sleep patterns wreak havoc on your body — including your skin.
Aim for 7-9 hours of solid sleep and your brain, body and skin will thank you.
2. CHOOSE HEALTHY FOOD OPTIONS
It doesn’t have to be complicated when it comes to eating healthy.
Stay hydrated , skip the sugar more often than not, eat in moderation and opt for whole foods like protein, healthy fats (avocado), vegetables and fruit over the junk and fast food.
3. MANAGE STRESS
With kids, a career and everything else life demands, stress can play a large part in your wellness journey.
Apply your non-negotiables in life any chance you get (that means carve out your “me time”), remember that self-care is critical to mental health and don’t forget to breathe.
Be mindful that everything is temporary, and you play a pivotal role in how you react to life.
4. MOVE AND SHAKE
Your skin loves when you get the body moving.
Exercise maintains healthy levels of cortisol (the stress hormone), purges toxins that can clog pores (hello, blackheads and blemishes), and reveals a healthy glow from all of that oxygenated blood.
Just move and shake. Take a walk. Dance the stress out. Buddy up and join a gym. Whatever you do, just get movin’.
SKIN CARE
You’re rockin’ the wellness (stress is at a minimum; sleep is on point, etc.).
Now it’s time to think about skin care.
Perhaps you just need a product refresh.
Or maybe you need a complete routine makeover.
Whatever it is, these tips will lead you in the right direction…
BEST SKIN CARE TIPS FOR BACK TO SCHOOL
1. QUESTION YOUR PRODUCTS
Have you used the same product since you were in high school? It’s ok if you have and if it works for you (we get attached, too).
Sometimes though we need to take a step back and examine what is working for our skin and what is not.
Oftentimes we need to cycle out of a product; experiment with other ones.
Now is the best time to question your skin care products and which ones need to stay and which ones need to go.
2. PAY ATTENTION TO SUN DAMAGE
Summer is fun.
Sun damage is not fun.
We can go a little wild in the summer and lose our sense of sunscreen and protection from the sun.
And then fall starts to creep up and we notice those dark, sunspots.
It’s best to catch sun damage early and with options like
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and retinols, you can do just that.
These treatments can help your skin look sun-kissed, not sun-damaged.
3. EXFOLIATE
Part of any good skin care routine includes exfoliation.
Dead skin cells love to pile up and the next thing you know blemishes, inflammation, large pores, and blackheads are lurking on your skin.
Exfoliation is key to prepping the skin for maximum product absorption, smooth texture, and an even complexion.
Enzyme peels, retinols, and dermaplaning can help exfoliate the skin so it’s not working overtime.
What do you think, is this doable?
You don’t have to implement everything right away — start with one tip that excites you and integrate.
Incorporating even one wellness or skin care tip can help you step up your game!
